Merit-Based Scholarships
When you apply for admission to Harvey Mudd as a first-year student, you may be considered for our merit-based scholarships. These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement and encourage the best and the brightest to join the Harvey Mudd community. Review each award description to determine whether you need to submit any additional application forms or credentials to be considered for any of these awards.
Scholarships and awards based upon merit are packaged to first-year students by the Harvey Mudd Office of Admission. Transfer students are not eligible for merit-based scholarship programs. In determining who will receive our merit-based scholarships, the Office of Admission looks primarily at academic achievement—financial need is not considered.
Once packaged, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) and be enrolled full time (at least 12 units) to remain eligible for the scholarships.
These awards are granted independent of financial need. If you receive a merit-based scholarship and are also eligible for need-based aid, your merit-based scholarship will be included in the aid provided to meet your financial need. Thus, any merit-based scholarships received will be coordinated with other need-based aid to help meet a student’s demonstrated financial need and will not be used to help reduce the family’s calculated contribution.
All questions regarding eligibility and application procedures for merit-based scholarships should be directed to the Office of Admission.
