Harvey Mudd College seeks to educate engineers, scientists and mathematicians well versed in all of these areas and in the humanities, social sciences and the arts so that they may assume leadership in their fields with a clear understanding of the impact of their work on society.
HMC Strategy: 2024–2033
A strategic plan for the next decade
I am excited to join you in building an even stronger Harvey Mudd College. We are committed to continuously generating and sharing solutions that ignite positive change, drawing inspiration not only from the legacy of our past—but also from the limitless potential of our future endeavors. Together, let us continue propelling innovation as we push the frontiers of knowledge and inspire future generations of thinkers and leaders.

The Innovation Accelerator
The Innovation Accelerator, called for in our strategic plan, is the engine that will power this effort. Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit proposals that align with the four long-term goals of the Strategic Plan. In this first round, up to $1,080,000 in grants is available.
Harvey Mudd College began its strategic planning process at a pivotal moment in the life of the College. With HMC President Harriet Nembhard’s arrival in fall 2023, the College community began discussions about how we might propel the innovations and accomplishments made during the prior strategic plan into the next decade. These discussions were grounded in our shared mission as well as in our aspirational vision for what Harvey Mudd could be like in 2035 if we achieved our ambitious goals.
With these important foundational elements in mind, our community began the process of identifying our strengths, opportunities, aspirations and the results we hoped to achieve. It is our hope that with this new plan as our guide, we can focus our efforts to continue propelling innovation at Harvey Mudd—now and into the future.
Please note: The plan shared on this site is the most updated working draft and will be further refined and approved by the HMC Board of Trustees during its January 2025 meeting.
