Krauss Promoted to Full Professor
June 11, 2021Promotions and tenure appointments for Harvey Mudd College faculty are a highlight of the May board of trustees meeting. In addition to promotions previously announced, the board unanimously approved Gordon Krauss to be promoted to full professor.
Krauss, the Fletcher Jones Professor of Engineering Design, studies design research—with a focus on team feedback, peer evaluation and decision making—and tribology, the study of friction, wear and lubrication. In 2019, he was selected to participate in the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program at the Management Center of Innsbruck. In addition to teaching there, Krauss continued research on an online peer feedback design review tool he’s developed with his HMC research students.
Prior to 2013, when he began working at Harvey Mudd, Krauss served as a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. His industry experience includes serving as a staff scientist for Energizer, a technical specialist consultant for Ford Motor Company and as a research and development engineer for Tytronics Corporation.
Krauss earned his PhD in mechanical engineering from Boston University in 1999. He is one of seven Harvey Mudd faculty members who were promoted or received reappointments at the May board meeting.
