Faculty Profile: Maduka Ogba

Share story

Assistant Professor of Chemistry Maduka Ogba joined the Harvey Mudd faculty in July 2024. His research group focuses on using computational techniques to improve the efficiency of catalytic reactions. Catalysts are used in 80% of manufactured products and contribute to 20% of the United States’ gross domestic products. However, there is a growing need to develop cheaper and more environmentally sustainable catalytic processes. Ogba and his students investigate using cheap, earth-abundant and environmentally sustainable salts to convert environmental pollutant molecules into useful drugs and materials.
