Staff Profile: Robert Vidaure

Communications and Marketing Art Director Robert Vidaure has been at Harvey Mudd for 12 years. In his role as art director, he advances the College’s mission and strategic vision by leading the creative team responsible for all print, web and other visual products that brand and promote the College. Robert is the lead graphic designer, developing and managing the visual identity of the College. He plans, designs, produces and manages production—internally and through outside vendors—of a variety of projects originating from all campus departments. What is your favorite part about your job and why?

I enjoy collaborating with my team as well as all the departments at HMC.

What is something people don’t understand about your job that you wish they did?

I cannot do my job without the collaboration and cooperation of the HMC community. The work I produce is stronger and more effective the more creative & collaborative brains are involved.

If you could swap jobs with any other HMC employee for a day, who would it be and why?

The dining staff. I love to cook.

If you could add anything to campus to improve the employee experience, what would it be?

A puppy cafe.

What’s your favorite food/dish in the Hoch-Shanahan Dining Hall?

Any stir fry over rice. And cookies.

What HMC events have made you feel really connected to other HMC colleagues?

The smaller independent events/get togethers the individual departments host.

What is your favorite hobby, activity or creative outlet?

I enjoy printmaking, camping and playing video games.

What is the best piece of advice someone has given you, either in life or at work?

Practice serious play. Never stop being a student.

What is your most effective strategy for dealing with stress?

Take breaks and listen to ambient music.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Stop time.

Are you studying or learning something new?

I love learning new things, right now I’m a bit obsessed with learning about all things AI.
