What is your favorite part about your job and why?

Being able to capture so many events and everyday moments of HMC through my camera lens and share them with the larger community through social media. There is so much joy to be captured here as well as lots of squirrel pics.

What is something people don’t understand about your job that you wish they did?

I really wish I could be everywhere to capture and make short informational videos on all the amazing things our community does, but alas I only have two hands and one camera.

If you could swap jobs with any other HMC employee for a day, who would it be and why?

One of our landscapers. I was raised doing yard work on the weekends and that kind of work always feels so rewarding to me.

If you could add anything to campus to improve the employee experience, what would it be?

Free meal swipes at the Hoch as well as partnering with local coffee roasters and tea suppliers for the cafe instead of using Starbucks.

What’s your favorite food/dish in the Hoch-Shanahan Dining Hall?

The roasted vegetables at Simple Servings after adding a personalized spice mix from the seasonings corner.

What HMC events have made you feel really connected to other HMC colleagues?

All of the employee celebrations and potlucks organized by the Office of Advancement in Kingston Hall.

What is your favorite hobby, activity or creative outlet?

Watching/listening to YouTube video essays on different pieces of media, like TV shows or movies. There’s a three-hour explanation video on the meaning behind the series Twin Peaks that would blow your mind!

What is the best piece of advice someone has given you, either in life or at work?

“Don’t think of it as selling out, but as buying in.” It helped me realize that I can take control of the things I do and make them my own.

What is your most effective strategy for dealing with stress?

Go for a walk and vent to the homies.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and how would you use it at work?

The ability to be advanced in any language at will. I would use it to connect with other people and help share their stories.

Are you studying or learning something new?

I’ve been learning how to implement decolonization practices into my life and build community care.

What book or podcast are you enjoying right now?

The Bitter Brown Femmes podcast.

What is the last concert you attended?

No Name.
