HMC Expert: Michael Orrison
Michael Orrison, PhD, enjoys discovering and exploring novel applications of the representation theory of finite groups. For example, by using ideas from the representation theory of symmetric groups, he and his coauthors have been able to offer alternative explanations and extensions of various foundational ideas in voting theory and statistics.
Orrison is one of the North American co-directors for the Aquincum Institute of Technology (AIT) study abroad program in Budapest, Hungary. Designed for computer science, software engineering and computational biology majors, the program emphasizes theory and applications together with entrepreneurship and design.
