Season’s Greetings and Financial Aid Preparation for Fall 2025

Share story

Greetings from the Financial Aid Office at Harvey Mudd College! We are a few months into the fall semester and our current students are engaging with faculty and classmates inside and outside of the classroom, exploring the 7C consortium, and taking part in a few pranks here and there. Our prospective students in high school are engaged in their college search: researching schools, academic courses and majors, career and internship opportunities, and co-curricular activities at their future schools. More than a few may find themselves lost in thought, imagining what life will really be like at college. These are timely activities embedded in the college search process as you prepare for the next phase of your academic career.

Of course, many are also preparing for the financial aspects of college. To apply for financial aid at HMC, we require students, along with their families, to complete the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile applications. We also require that students and their families submit signed copies of their 2023 Federal Tax Returns, including all schedules, W-2 and 1099 forms. Families that live internationally will instead submit signed tax forms and wage statements from their respective countries. We’ve detailed our instructions and deadlines for ED1, ED2, Regular Decision, International Students, and Transfer students on our financial aid website.

We are pleased to announce that the 2025-2026 FAFSA application has launched for all domestic students during Beta Testing. In Beta Testing you can submit your actual FAFSA form beginning November 19, 2024. Please note the FAFSA is not due to HMC until early January for our Early Decision 1 & 2 applicants, but we encourage students and their families to begin the process as soon as they can.

We have a later FAFSA deadline in recognition of the late fall release of the FAFSA. Rest assured that by collecting the CSS Profile and supporting documents, our staff is able to evaluate your eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid in the form of grants, scholarships, student employment, and loans. We will provide an award package at the time of admission for students admitted in every round whether early decision, regular decision, or through the transfer process.

We encourage all students thinking about HMC to use our Net Price Calculator to get insight into the financial aid you’re eligible for as an entering domestic student. We remain committed to meeting the full financial need of all students admitted to Harvey Mudd College. About 70% of Harvey Mudd students receive financial aid, a combination of grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study with the average financial aid award of $47,812.
