Applying to WISTEM
Who should apply to WISTEM?
The WISTEM program is open to high school juniors (or equivalent) that are U.S. citizens or permanent residents (who live within the United States). WISTEM is intended for students who are committed to the inclusion of women in STEM with a preference for students from low-income backgrounds, students with disabilities, and students who are first-generation to college.
Application Information
Harvey Mudd is a highly selective institution and admission to WISTEM is reflective of this fact. Transcripts and test scores (if submitted) will factor heavily into the WISTEM application process, as will a passion for engineering, math, and science.
Required Materials
- An online application form
- An uploaded resume OR a list of your extracurricular activities, honors, jobs, etc. on the application. Feel free to view our video where Harvey Mudd students share tips on how to write a resume.
- An unofficial high school transcript(s) showing 9th grade–present*. We understand that fall semester grades might not be ready by the deadline – so please include a progress report or quarter grades. A progress report or quarter grades for junior year are required (we will accept screenshots or scanned copies of electronic grade books, report cards, etc.).
*Resume and transcripts should be uploaded as attachments while completing the online form. Please do NOT send these materials via email, fax, or regular mail, as we will be unable to pair them with your application. Be aware that you will be unable to save your progress on the application form–we suggest gathering these materials before you begin filling out the WISTEM application.
