What impact did WISTEM have on your college search process?
WISTEM helped me realize what I wanted in a college, and the kinds of questions I should be asking to make sure the colleges I was interested in shared the same values that I do. I knew what I wanted in a college, and that helped me narrow down the list of colleges I wanted to apply to.
How much did attending WISTEM impact your decision to come to Harvey Mudd?
WISTEM introduced me to Harvey Mudd, and it was a huge part of why I came to Mudd! Even though WISTEM was only a few days long, I knew I wanted to go here. I just fell in love with Mudd. Throughout the entire WISTEM program, I felt like Harvey Mudd cared about me, and that made a really large impression on me.
What is your favorite memory from WISTEM?
My favorite activity was the diversity workshop. The Office of Institutional Diversity was part of the reason I fell in love with Mudd, and I’ve been to some really interesting talks sponsored by them. I like that they have a large presence on campus.

What impact did WISTEM have on your college search process?
WISTEM served as a great form of support throughout my college search process. After every webinar, I felt assured that I was doing the right things and taking the right steps to search for and apply to colleges. As I searched for colleges, I felt sure that I could use the information I had learned to help me and make an informed decision about which schools to apply to. By the time I was accepted to colleges, what I had learned ended up also helping me to choose my college.
How much did attending WISTEM impact your decision to pursue STEM in college?
Even before WISTEM, I was pretty sure I wanted to pursue biology in college. I had always been interested in science and was sure that would be my path. However, WISTEM helped me broaden my perspective to other STEM fields, not just science, and since then, my interest in STEM has only solidified. Now, I am quite pleased with and confident in my decision to pursue STEM in college and beyond.
What is your favorite memory from WISTEM?
My favorite memory from WISTEM was the having the opportunity to meet new people from all over the country. It was nice to be able to make friends with people who had similar interests to me, while also each having their own unique voices. I got to learn about how others were involved in STEM and what they were looking for in colleges. Through meeting these people and hearing about them and what they were considering for their futures, I became more and more excited for my own.
