HMC Social Media Communities

Welcome to the HMC online community! Below you will find links to official alumni sites, class communities and other affinity groups. We’ve included groups that are labeled as public (open to viewing by all) or private (group visible but site viewing privileges subject to admin approval of membership) but not secret. The class and affinity sites are run by alumni and therefore do not express official views of Harvey Mudd College.

This is a work in progress. If you have a group to add or other suggestions or comments, please contact alumni@hmc.edu.

HMC Alumni Association Community Social Media Rules

 Version 1.0 – Published Feb 27, 2023

  • Be kind and courteous! We’re all in this together to create a welcoming environment. Let’s treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but kindness is required.
  • No hate speech or bullying! Make sure everyone feels safe. Harassment or bullying of any kind is not allowed. Degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.
  • Value privacy and consent! Do not disseminate personal information shared by other community members without their explicit permission. This includes photos and personal identifying information. Furthermore, do not take a person’s words or works out of context and/or misrepresent them.
  • Keep it relevant and work-safe / PG-13! Keep the discussion safe for work and as on topic as possible for the medium. Posts reported as spam or inappropriate content by members of the community will be reviewed and removed by moderators as deemed necessary.

Moderation and Governance Policy

Communities are moderated by alumni volunteers. Reported posts that violate these rules will be investigated by the moderators and handled on a case-by-case basis. Actions taken will depend on the nature of the incident and may include:

  • Isolated Incident – Private message explaining the report and impact.
  • Repeat Incident – Restricted access or posting rights.
  • Pattern of Incidents / Egregious Abuse – Removal from group.
