Alumni Weekend FAQs
Where can I park?
During Alumni Weekend, you are welcome to park in any available legal parking space on the HMC campus. Platt Boulevard and all campus parking lots will be available and are close to the areas where activities for the weekend are held. You may also park along Mills Avenue (north of campus) unless posted otherwise. Parking citations will not be issued on campus as long as you are parked legally. Vehicles left unattended in a red-zone area or parked in a handicap space with no placard will be ticketed. The City of Claremont may issue tickets for illegal parking on city streets or in fire lanes.
We ask that you display a permit in your front windshield if you car is parked on campus during the day on Friday, May 2 (you may download and print our PDF version to bring with you).
What should I wear?
Most events at Alumni Weekend are very casual. You may wear whatever is comfortable, including jeans, t-shirts, shorts, etc. Saturday evening events, including the Alumni Association Awards Ceremony, the Wine and Cheese Reception and the Reunion Class Dinners, tend more toward business casual dress. Please bring clothes suitable for temperate weather, but remember that it can get hot during the day and much cooler at night. Check the weather report before you leave home and dress accordingly.
Where can I find locations for each event?
Each registrant will receive a mini-schedule that fits inside your name-tag jacket and contains locations all events printed inside. You may also pull up the Alumni Weekend schedule on the Alumni Association website. If you’re ever in doubt, check at the registration area or ask a staff member wearing a gold nametag. For locations of both on and off-campus events, you can refer to the Claremont Colleges Map.
What if I haven’t registered in advance?
That’s okay! If you have not registered in advance for Alumni Weekend at all, just visit our onsite registration area (R. Michael Shanahan Center for Teaching and Learning) when you arrive on campus. If you did register in advance for some events but now want to attend others, check to see if there is a fee for the event(s) you wish to attend. If there is no fee, you may just show up. If there is a fee, visit on-site registration to register and pay. Events with a fee include Friday and Saturday lunches, the 3-C Wine Tasting on Friday afternoon and all dinners on Saturday.
Are my friends here?
You can find out by checking the online list of attendees, which is searchable by name, class year and event.
What if I’d like to attend Alumni Weekend but am concerned about the cost?
We want to help every Mudder participate in Alumni Weekend. If you have a financial hardship, please email alumni@hmc.edu to request financial assistance. We may have options available to ensure you can participate in Alumni Weekend. We are not able to provide financial support for travel, housing or other non-registration related expenses. Your presence is important to us, and we want to help make it possible for you to join the celebration.
What’s happening at the other Colleges?
One of the best things about Alumni Weekend is that four of the undergraduate Claremont Colleges (Pitzer, HMC, Pomona and Scripps) celebrate on the same weekend. If you are interested in learning about events at the other Colleges, check online using the following links:
Who’s attending from the other Colleges?
Not all of the Colleges make their attendee lists publicly available online, but here are links for the ones that do:
