Duo Two-Factor Authentication
Service Description
HMC is participating in a Claremont-wide effort to increase the security of accounts by deploying Duo Security as a two-factor authentication method. Two-factor authentication provides a second layer of security to HMC Credential logins by requiring extra information via a physical device to log in. This helps prevent anyone but you from accessing your account, even if they know your username and password.
Security breaches based on compromised usernames and passwords have been on the increase, and at HMC we have seen a number of these incidents, some as a result of phishing emails. You can learn more by watching What is Two-Factor Authentication? (2FA).
Duo does not replace or require you to change your username and password. Think of Duo as a layer of security added to your pre-existing login method.
Availability
