Toyota has created hydrogen fuel cell-powered zero-emission Class 8 trucks (Project Portal) to run drayage routes in the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. In order to elevate the safety and performance of all trucks transporting containers, the 2019–2020 Toyota Clinic team has designed a sensor network to detect load changes in the container during transport. The team plans to create a scale prototype to validate the algorithms and sensing methods behind this technology.
