MBARI (Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute) serves as a vital center for oceanic research and technological innovation. To aid their marine research, MBARI deploys remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) on underwater missions. To improve the ROV pilot’s situational awareness underwater, decrease the cost of each mission and generate novel scientific information, we’ve been working on a mixed reality piloting application for these ROVs. Our aim is to optimize underwater operations, ultimately supporting MBARI’s efforts to unlock new insights into the ocean.
