Batteries for consumer electronic devices typically consist of a stack of anode and cathode sheets separated by thin membranes, wrapped in a flexible pouch. The standard battery pouch is a laminate consisting of metal and plastic layers. Failure in the pouch material can lead to swelling or dangerous chemical reactions within the battery. The goal of the Project Corsica clinic project is to design an alternative battery pouch material that improves the safety and reliability of the batteries.
