In poor visibility weather conditions, the visual range is a vital parameter to ensure a safe landing. The âInstrument Qualified Visual RangeâÂ_x009d_ system measures the visual range directly between the aircraft on final approach and the LED landing light system. The team designed a modulation scheme to transmit runway and airport information from the LED landing lights and an aircraft processing system with a high-speed camera to detect the LED data patterns of the aircraft’s expected landing destination.
