FedEx operates a global shipping network, offering a variety of services to promptly deliver millions of packages each day. Existing metrics for evaluating the network are largely focused on explaining historical performance in the aggregate. FedEx seeks to expand its set of service metrics to better identify network failure points in real-time and enable forward looking insights to quickly respond to bottlenecks and congested areas. With inspiration from computer networks, the team has developed a collection of metrics to complement FedEx’s existing performance metrics.
