Nile Phillips at Text As Data (TADA)

Nile Phillips ’24 presented a poster at Text As Data (TADA) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in November 2023. Nile has worked on this project alongside Michelle Lum ’23 and Sathvika Anand ’24 in the EconText lab, supervised by Prof. Xanda Schofield (HMC CS) alongside Prof. Manisha Goel and Prof. Michelle Zemel (Pomona Economics). The goal of the project is to study corporate behavior on Twitter, specifically focusing on how companies model corporate social responsibility, or CSR, in their public-facing image, as well as whether their social media messaging correlates with corporate action. Between watching talks and presenting a poster, Nile also found some time to visit a UMass professor’s dairy goats!
