Programs and Initiatives

I’m a First Initiative

This First-Generation College Student Initiative is designed to support and uplift first-generation college students as they navigate their unique educational journeys. By providing resources, mentorship, and a robust community network, we aim to bridge the gap for those who are the first in their families to pursue higher education.

Mudders Mentoring Mudders

The Harvey Mudd College Mentoring Program, Mudders Mentoring Mudders (M3), was created so alumni, faculty, and staff could provide support for Mudders from during their sophomore year, which has traditionally been the most stressful point in college for students. Students report that in their second year, many of the support mechanisms present in the first year fall away, while their course load increases in intensity.

The M3 program enables students to learn the importance of establishing meaningful connections with mentors to gain the support to be successful at HMC and beyond.

If you would like to mentor a student in the next cohort, please email oid@g.hmc.edu.

Tea w/ OID

Through various activities and events, the OID office aims to support and amplify diverse voices and identities in STEM; celebrate the unique experiences and cultures of the campus community and create safe spaces to come together and learn from each other’s perspectives. Examples of events include celebrating National Coming Out Day, Dia de los Muertos and First-Gen Day. If you are interested in collaborating on an event that will have an impact on the campus community, please email oid@g.hmc.edu.
