Homework Hotline

Help Shape the Future of Homework Hotline
The Harvey Mudd College Homework Hotline has been a free, over-the-phone and chat tutoring service for students in grades 4-12, providing support in math and science. Since launching in 2010, the hotline has helped thousands of students build confidence in their academic skills, with tutors guiding them through problems step by step rather than simply giving answers.
Over the years, Homework Hotline has made a significant impact:
● Over 30,000 calls received since the program’s launch
● More than 6,000 homework problems solved each year
● 100% of first-time callers say they would recommend the service
● 94% of students feel more confident about their subject after a tutoring session
● 69% of callers are repeat users, showing the program’s ongoing value
Despite these successes, the educational landscape is changing, and we are currently evaluating how to best serve students moving forward. As part of this process, we are gathering input from students, parents, and educators to better understand their tutoring needs.

Homework Hotline to Pause for 2024–2025 Academic Year
The Harvey Mudd College Homework Hotline, a helpful resource for local students, will be temporarily non-operational for the 2024–2025 academic year as it undergoes a strategic evaluation and enhancement process. Since its return in fall 2021, the program has experienced a decrease in usage, prompting a thorough review to better serve the community’s concerns and priorities.
