Fellow student, alum and trustee
Gentle giant is what comes to mind, not just because he was tall, but because he stood out in everything he did, head and shoulders above those around him. From the time he was a student he was a rock-solid friend, one you could depend on; and he was humble about his excellence. I never saw Malcolm lose his cool, and he dealt with some very difficult situation in business. He was the kind of leader that Joe Platt wanted HMC to educate, and Malcolm was a stunning success. I feel blessed to have known Malcolm and will always treasure the times we had together.

Malcolm created so much opportunity for so many people. A group of his work colleagues just spent a couple of hours today remembering him and telling stories, and it was a remarkable experience. Malcolm possessed that rare mind with amazing intuition for both technical problems and people. His inspiration and the way he treated everyone he touched still impacts all of us every day and will be a part of his extraordinary legacy.

I had the pleasure the past 13 years of knowing this wonderful man, first through interactions with Trustees and then through the Clinic program. Always the consummate professional but even more importantly a wonderful and caring person.

I had the honor of supporting Malcolm. He was the true meaning of a “gentlemen”. The legacy that he left is marked on all our hearts. Even when I asked him if he needed an airplane to go to Claremont, he never made me feel small. His family is truly his reflection. I will miss him so much . . .

During his last days, Malcolm told me that he was troubled that he could not find the words to express what those he loved meant to him. But we who were privileged to be among his friends know that his whole life was an eloquent testimony to his love of his God, his family, and his friends.
