Fall 2019 Update
WSCUC RE-AFFIRMATION OF ACCREDITATION
Over the course of the 2018-19 academic year, various members of the WSCUC Steering Committee updated campus stakeholders on the campuses’ selection of the theme for our Thematic Pathway for review. Through a series of meetings and as guided by the Thematic Pathway for Review Guidelines, the Steering Committee:
- Reviewed the previous accreditation reports, the mid-cycle review, the results of the Interim Report and WSCUC feedback, with attention to issues raised in the Commission’s 2011 letter.
- Met with campus committees in order to discuss potential themes. The Assessment and Accreditation Committee, Department Chairs Committee, and Faculty Executive Committee consulted with departments and divisions on campus and reported back to the Steering Committee.
- Hosted Barbara Gross Davis, our WSCUC Liaison, who provided an overview of the Thematic Pathway Process for the campus.
- Regularly updated The President, her Cabinet and the Board of Trustees on theme selection and project definition; and discussed the theme at the March 14th 2019 faculty meeting.
On May 1, 2019 HMC submitted our Thematic Pathway for Review Proposal, and over the summer we received approval for the projects in our Thematic Pathway Proposal and feedback from WSCUC staff.
On August 27th, 2019, the WSCUC Steering Committee held a retreat to plan the activities for academic year 2019-20. This year’s activities include completing our self-study, undertaking the three projects (on workload, the Core curriculum redesign, and co-curriculum) outlined in the Thematic Pathway Proposal, and drafting of our Institutional Report.
HMC’s reaffirmation materials and additional information about the reaffirmation process are available on HMC’s website.
The WSCUC Steering Committee meets monthly. If you would like a member of the WSCUC Steering Committee to meet with your committee or group, please contact Laura Palucki Blake, HMC’s Accreditation Liaison Officer.
