Mathematics Posters

The department has a wide-format printer that we use to print 36″ x 48″ or 48″ x 36″ posters for thesis, clinic, and research projects. The required dimensions for posters differs based on the project. Please follow the guidelines below:

  • Thesis: 48″ x 36″ produces a landscape poster
  • Clinic: 36″ x 48″ produces a portrait poster
  • Other research: 36″ x 48″ produces a portrait poster OR 48″ x 36″ produces a landscape poster

If you have any difficulty using the templates below, please reach out to Melissa Hernandez-Alvarez (mhernandezalvarez@hmc.edu) for assistance.

Thesis Posters

You have a choice of creating your thesis poster with either LaTeX or Powerpoint. Please use the templates below.

LaTeX Template

The thesis poster source code for the LaTeX template is maintained on the math department’s Github page.

  • Only the sample-thesis-poster.tex and sampleposter.bib files should be edited. Replace your own images with the ones saved in the template.

Powerpoint Template

The thesis poster powerpoint template is available on Google Drive.

  • Please keep the font consistent by using Nimbus Sans L for all headers and Book Antiqua for all paragraphs and captions.
  • If the mathematics logo is distorted when opening the template, use the hmcmath-cube-logo.pdf available on the math department’s Github page.

Clinic Posters

Clinic projects are required to use a LaTeX template to produce their posters. The template is maintained at HMC’s Github poster page.

  • Only the sample-clinic-poster.tex and sampleposter.bib files should be edited. Replace your own images with the ones saved in the template.
  • You may have to add the hmcmath.bst file if you are receiving errors when first compiling your poster.

Other Research Posters

There is a LaTeX template available for anyone to use for summer research or other research posters. The template is maintained at HMC’s Github poster page.

  • Create your poster using either the sample-clinic-poster.tex or sample-thesis-poster.tex files and modify as necessary.
  • You may have to add the hmcmath.bst file if you are receiving errors when first compiling your poster.
