Greg Minton is Apker Finalist

Gregory Minton, who conducted research with Professor Vatche Sahakian on a new approach to understanding inhomogeneities in the cosmic microwave background using string theory, has been selected as a finalist by the Apker Committee. Two LeRoy Apker Awards are given annually by the American Physical Society for outstanding achievement in physics by an undergraduate, one for students from PhD granting institutions and one for students from non-PhD granting institutions.

The award includes $5000 and a travel allowance to the APS meeting at which the award is presented. Greg is HMC’s fifth Apker finalist in the past ten years. He will be presenting his research to the Apker Committee in Washington, DC, on September 13. The winners will be announced in mid October. Congratulations, Greg!
