HMC Hosts ALPhA Workshop on Quantum Optics

Theresa Lynn and Richard Haskell hosted a three-day ALPhA Immersion workshop on quantum optics, using the setup in the Stoddard Laboratory used in the optics laboratory course. Besides rising senior Sid Srinivasan and rising junior Max Byers, the participants hail from Carthage College, Whitworth University, Greenville College, the University of Redlands, U.C. Riverside, and Claremont McKenna College. They are working on the paired-photon downconversion setup that is part of our optics lab and advanced lab courses, performing anti-coincidence experiments and tests of Bell’s inequality.
