Neal Pisenti, who conducted research with Professor Theresa Lynn on quantum optics, has been selected as a finalist by the Apker Committee. Two LeRoy Apker Awards are given annually by the American Physical Society for outstanding achievement in physics by an undergraduate, one for students from PhD granting institutions and one for students from non-PhD granting institutions.

The award includes $5000 and a travel allowance to the APS meeting at which the award is presented. Neal is HMC’s seventh Apker finalist in the past thirteen years. He will be presenting his research to the Apker Committee in early September. After which he will head to Mali, West Africa, for a year to help develop an adult education center.
