The Department of Physics completed a successful search for a tenure-track assistant professor by hiring Sharon Gerbode, currently a post-doc at Harvard. Sharon was pursuing a creative writing major at UC Santa Cruz when she took an astronomy course that changed her life. She switched to a physics major, then earned a PhD in physics at Cornell studying colloidal crystals before taking her present position in L. Mahadevan’s group at Harvard. Dr. Gerbode will delay her start in Claremont by one semester, joining us in January, 2012. Welcome, Sharon!
