Share story

Dear HMC Community,

Welcome to the fall 2024 semester!  Here is the regular biweekly update from the Task Force on Clinic and Corporate Partnerships.

Short Version

Thank you to everyone who shared your opinions on the survey administered to students, faculty, staff and alumni. The survey is now closed. The Task Force is analyzing the results and looks forward to further discussion. There will be several additional opportunities this fall for you to provide suggestions and feedback to the Task Force including in-person meetings, Zoom sessions and asynchronous methods. The detailed schedule will be announced soon and posted to the Task Force Posts page. The first interim report of the Task Force will be released in late September for community feedback. More information about the Task Force can be found on this website, and messages for the Task Force can be sent to taskforce_ccp-l@g.hmc.edu.

Long Version

The Task Force is committed to facilitating a process in which the HMC community comes together collaboratively to articulate our values, hopes and visions for the future of our flagship Clinic program and our relationships with our corporate partners. The members of the Task Force are a diverse group of stakeholders from across the College working together to listen and learn from each other and the wider HMC community. We take seriously the concerns that have been raised by our colleagues and peers. We are focusing on gaining a holistic understanding of the Clinic program and corporate partnerships so that we will be able to synthesize recommendations that will contribute positively to the future of these programs.

One important vehicle for gathering community input is the survey administered to students, faculty, staff and alumni. The survey was open from July 29 to August 19 and is now closed. Thank you to everyone who shared your opinions and suggestions. If you did not complete the survey, there will be additional opportunities this fall for you to provide suggestions and feedback to the Task Force, and you can always email comments to the Task Force at taskforce_ccp-l@g.hmc.edu.

The Task Force is currently analyzing the results of the survey with the help of the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. Each written comment will be read by multiple Task Force members. The report released to the HMC community in late September will include a summary of the quantitative results along with the trends, themes and patterns that emerge from the qualitative data. Full interpretation of the survey results will require additional conversations with the HMC community to explore the issues raised in the survey and the survey responses. The Task Force looks forward to these further discussions.

In developing our schedule of fall events, the Task Force wants to provide a variety of ways to engage for each of the stakeholder groups across the HMC community. By providing an array of formats, we hope to create pathways for anyone who wants to participate in this process to do so. In all of our planned sessions, we will be intentional in establishing an atmosphere of mutual respect and constructive dialogue so that everyone is able to share their opinions productively. The detailed schedule will be announced soon and posted to the Task Force Posts page.

The Task Force is scheduled to release two interim reports during the fall 2024 semester and a final report in January 2025. The first of the interim reports will be distributed to the HMC community in late September. The goals for the first interim report are to share the data gathered so far, to seek clarification, corrections, and additions where needed, and to gather community feedback on emerging ideas for possible recommendations. The comments received by the Task Force on the first interim report will be carefully considered as the report is revised and updated. The second interim report, incorporating this feedback, will be released in late October or November for further comments and refinement.

More information about the Task Force, including an archive of the biweekly updates, can be found on this website. You can use the email address taskforce_ccp-l@g.hmc.edu to send messages to the entire Task Force.

Best wishes for a fall semester filled with learning and community.

Warm regards from The Task Force on Clinic and Corporate Partnerships
